Stopping cyberattacks before they happen and reducing endpoint TCO by 75% with IGEL

As businesses increasingly embrace a cloud-connected strategy, they are shifting their endpoint workloads from Windows devices to VDI, DaaS, Browser, and SaaS.

IGEL is leading the way in this massive transformation of application deployments, positioning itself as the “Secure Endpoint OS for Now & Next.”

In January 2024, IGEL introduced the IGEL Preventative Security Model™, which enables Zero Trust Architecture and integrates deployment methodologies with SASE and Secure Service Edge (SSE). This model emphasizes a proactive approach to security designed to prevent breaches before they happen. Central to the Preventative Security Model is the IGEL OS, a highly secure OS that is resistant to cyber-attacks.

Master the Three-Ring Circus

A modern endpoint security and end user computing strategy (EUC) is comprised of three key components, which often operate in silos, like a three-ring circus:

  • Deployment methodologies
  • SSE/SASE security frameworks, encompassing IAM and UEM
  • Endpoint hardware platforms

IGEL’s Preventative Security Model unites these silos and enables IT organizations to master their EUC infrastructure by integrating these areas into a single, cohesive environment that protects the entire organization. This integration is facilitated by the IGEL Ready ecosystem, comprised of more than 100 partners whose solution offerings are integrated and validated for use with IGEL OS.

With IGEL, organizations can successfully shift from the traditional monitor, detect, mitigate, and remediate security model to a Preventative Security Model, thereby reducing the risk of ransomware and malware attacks.

Additional benefits include:

  • Reduces the attack surface by 95% compared to a traditional endpoint approach.
  • Brings business continuity and disaster recovery (BC/DR) to the endpoint, enabling businesses to recover from a ransomware attack in minutes.
  • Saves organizations 50-75% of their endpoint budget while streamlining endpoint security by eliminating the need to purchase and operationalize multiple software tools and agents required to monitor various aspects of their security posture.
  • Helps healthcare, government, and financial services organizations, for example, establish secure, smart, single sign-on systems through integration with tools like Conditional Access in Entra ID, Omnissa Workspace ONE Access, Citrix, and Imprivata.
  • Transforms endpoint security for emerging use cases including digital signage and secure OT/IoT (Operation Technology / Internet of Things).
  • Improves manageability and allows staff to focus on more critical tasks, resulting in notable productivity gains—customers have reported nurses saving 40 minutes weekly due to streamlined login processes.

With IGEL, the endpoint is strengthened and its management simplified, reducing complexity and potential challenges. For instance, during the global IT outage in July 2024, all customers’ endpoints running IGEL remained unaffected.

Simply IGEL it

Many organizations are struggling to meet the deadline to move to Windows 11. In fact, according to new research from PX3, 27% of endpoints in organizations cannot run Windows 11 due to the lack of the required TPM security chipset. For these users, the solution is: “Simply IGEL it”.

By moving Windows to the cloud through DaaS or VDI, organizations can IGEL the in-place hardware, improving security and saving 75% on endpoint TCO. They can then utilize that budget to future-proof the Windows environment with Microsoft AVD, Cloud PC, Citrix, or Omnissa.

Additional examples of where organizations can ”Simply IGEL It” include:

  • Extending the lifecycle of Dell Thin client hardware with 2GB or 4GB, rendered obsolete by the latest Dell ThinOS, which requires 8 GB of RAM. This can save unnecessary CapEx spending and significantly reduce e-waste.
  • Ransomware recovery of compromised non-IGEL devices leveraging the IGEL UD Pocket, a compact USB key, by clean-booting the in-place hardware to IGEL OS and quickly enabling users to reconnect to Office 365 and collaboration platforms to ensure business and services are kept in motion.

IGEL is transforming end user computing strategy through its Preventative Security Model. By leveraging IGEL OS, organizations can elevate their cybersecurity posture, stopping threats before they occur while simultaneously saving a lot money, improving sustainability, and enhancing productivity, all without having to invest in hardware upgrades.
