IGEL DISRUPT 24 Munich Sponsor Q&A Interview: ControlUp

IGEL DISRUPT 24 Munich is just weeks away, and there is still time to register for this unique opportunity to dive into the Now & Next of EUC with a two-day agenda packed full of key analysts, technical certifications, and industry experts at the largest end user conference in the industry.

Our IGEL DISRUPT 24 Munich sponsor interview series kicks off with Simon Townsend, Field CTO for ControlUp. Read on for insights on ControlUp’s partnership with IGEL and why they look forward to joining us this year in Munich for IGEL DISRUPT.

1) Why did your organization choose to sponsor IGEL DISRUPT Munich?

ControlUp has sponsored IGEL DISRUPT every year since 2018 and is excited to be sponsoring it again in 2024. IGEL DISRUPT is THE end-user computing event of the year, one of the only events that brings together an increasing number of vendors, partners, customers, and community experts and presents a wide range of content. The event held in Miami earlier this year was outstanding, with excellent keynotes and breakout sessions delivered in an awesome location.

We are looking forward to returning to the ‘now famous’ Infinity Hotel in Munich. The training sessions that Citrix, Nerdio, Microsoft, and IGEL put on are invaluable to EUC consultants, and the 1:1 meetings with key leaders in key vendors allow both partners and customers to discuss strategy and roadmap. The event is fun, educational, and a great way for everyone involved in EUC to meet, discuss, and learn.

2) What are 2-3 things you would like attendees at IGEL DISRUPT Munich to know about your partnership with IGEL?

ControlUp is proud to have integrated both the Control EDGE DX and ControlUp Remote DX products into the IGEL OS and made them available on the IGEL App Portal. This allows customers to deploy DEX solutions to IGEL devices with ease and provides instant end-to-end visibility over the VDI, DaaS, SaaS, and IGEL endpoints.

Having the ControlUp solution deployed to IGEL devices also allows the support desk to instantly remediate issues through the ControlUp console, helping reduce tickets and ticket costs. As an IGEL Ready partner, customers and partners can deploy IGEL and ControlUp together, knowing that both parties have certified the technology.

3) What will your organization be presenting/showcasing at IGEL DISRUPT Munich? What do you want attendees to take away from your session/booth presentation?

We will demonstrate the value organizations are getting today from deploying an IGEL + ControlUp solution. During our session at IGEL DISRUPT, we will showcase the reduction in management, improved security and visibility, and the combined solution’s ability to lower CAPEX and operational costs. The session will include how simple it is to set up and deploy the ControlUp DEX solution with IGEL and provide an overview of new features in ControlUp that further enable businesses and IT to improve the Employee Experience. Finally, the session will cover both IGEL OS 11 and IGEL OS 12 and showcase some of the ‘out of the box’ capabilities in the ControlUp DEX platform, as well as potential demos of the latest innovations ControlUp is making in both SaaS and Windows 365 CloudPC.

4) In your view, what are the key challenges/opportunities for the EUC space in the next 3-6 months?

EUC, including physical desktops (not just virtual), is evolving. Windows 10 is going to reach the end of support (EOS) in 2025, DaaS and Cloud PCs are making it easier to deploy virtual machines, and endpoint security and reliability (most recently) have been questioned again. During the pandemic, organizations acquired millions of new laptops without thought of cost, strategy, security or sustainability. Now four years later, is the time that organizations need to rethink their 2025 strategy and, based on the recent ‘take down’ of Windows on the endpoint, consider how SaaS, DaaS, IGEL OS, and other tools in the EUC space can transform how we deliver and manage digital workspaces.

5) What should IT organizations be doing as they prepare for 2025?

Gartner reports that by 2025, 50% of all organizations will have a DEX (digital employee experience) strategy. Based on recent interest, I can imagine this number being higher as more organizations look to transform and measure their digital workspace. With hybrid workers and hybrid workspaces, the need to proactively and cost-effectively monitor and improve employee experience is key.

EMEA 2025 will also bring the CSRD and sustainability reporting to some organizations. I won’t go into detail now, but IGEL, VDI/DaaS, and DEX can all play a very important role in helping measure and reduce an organization’s IT carbon footprint.

Organizations should spend the rest of 2024 evaluating and testing EUC technologies, ready for accelerated deployments in 2025.

6) And, just for fun, what is your favorite thing to do during your summer holidays?

Family time, Pool, Sun, Sea, food, drink…..what more do you need?
