SAN FRANCISCO, November 14, 2022 – IGEL, today announced that it has been named a winner in the 2022 CRN Tech Innovator Awards, presented by CRN®, a brand of The Channel Company. IGEL is being recognized for its IGEL OS endpoint device operating system in the “Virtualization/Virtual Desktop Infrastructure” category. The annual CRN Tech Innovators awards program celebrates innovative vendors in the IT channel across 38 different technology categories, in critical business areas ranging from cloud to storage to networking to security. The selection process for this year’s winners was overseen by a panel of CRN editors and is based on a review of hundreds of vendor products using multiple criteria. These include key capabilities, uniqueness, technological ingenuity, and best fit with customer and solution provider needs. CRN’s Edge 100 list honors the trailblazing vendors leading the channel with next-generation technology that is helping to build intelligent edge solutions for Edge Hardware, Software and Services; IoT and 5G Edge Services; and Security.
IGEL OS delivers a rich Windows experience that’s secure, manageable, and cost effective, across VDI, DaaS, and SaaS. In July 2022, IGEL OS became the first Linux-based OS to provide a fully functional, generally available, Microsoft-supported version of Microsoft Teams for IGEL OS-powered endpoints connecting to Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). The collaboration between IGEL and Microsoft has resulted in the delivery of capabilities that are on par with Windows-powered endpoints. Users of the jointly developed Azure Virtual Desktop Teams experience on IGEL OS have reported seeing significant benefits from the combined solution.
